Aluminum elements are not available onEarthh, they are created from mineral deposits of Bauxite ore (Al2O3⋅nH2O).

Aluminum foil is produced through 2 stages:

Aluminum production stage

Aluminum is extracted from an ore called Bauxite (the largest concentrated reserves are in the Central Highlands of Vietnam). The ore is refined to create alumina – a type of aluminum oxide (Al2O3). The alumina is then electrolytically reduced to produce aluminum metal.

Bauxite (Al2O3⋅nH2O) --> Alumina (Al2O3) --> Nhôm (Al)

Aluminum foil production stage

Pure aluminum ingots are heated to a very high temperature to become liquid, the liquid aluminum is poured into molds to form aluminum ingots. The aluminum ingot rolls are then passed through a rolling mill, the aluminum is rolled into rolls of aluminum foil of the desired thickness.

Applications of aluminum foil

With outstanding properties such as waterproof, durable, flexible, anti-corrosion, conductive, and especially recyclable, aluminum foil is widely used in:

  • Food industry
  • Medical and pharmaceutical industry
  • Chemical and industrial sector
  • Electronic industry
  • Construction industry
